In Pärnu Hospitals Blood service you may become a blood donor and bone marrow donor. Join and save a life!


Blood service task is to collect blood and prepare, examine, store, and give out blood components. Its objective is to ensure that hospitals have access to blood components 24/7. Our mission is to guarantee quality products for patients and doctors to help maintain and recover health. In order to reach our primary objectives, we continuously develop transfusion medicine and offer members of society the opportunity to take part in charity - donating blood to save and maintain lives.


27 donors from Pärnu County have been awarded a Decoration of Estonian Red Cross by the President of the Republic of Estonia. 4% of the residents in Pärnu County are donors. Blood bank’s task is to perform immunohematology tests on patients and guarantee a sufficient amount of different blood components for the hospital’s daily activity as well as to prepare blood components for the safest transfusion possible according to the requirements. Immunohematology laboratory, both in the blood service and blood bank, is accredited according to the Standard EVS-EN ISO 15189:2008 “Medical laboratories. Particular requirements for quality and competence“.
